Every now and again one comes across a real hidden gem, something that is so amazing that it is difficult to understand why not everyone knows about it.

Well a few weeks ago Kev Simmonds contacted us via the Wrexham Matters social media page, explaining he was interested in getting involved with things in respect of improving Wrexham, such as the clean up days. He explained he had a local workshop.

So we popped along to see him and were blown away by what we discovered.

Kev has had a very varied career and a few years ago decided to try his hand at something new. Woodwork and joinery, so JKL Woodcrafts was born.  Now when we say woodwork and joinery, we don’t mean hanging some doors, fixing skirting, window boards and like.  No a real labour of love and self taught genius Kev is now producing amazing bespoke pieces from novelty wine holders to amazing wishing wells.  The attention to detail and workmanship has to be seen to be believed.

The range of things on offer include, novelty wine holders,  time out stool, collectors shelves / draw dividers, garden benches, sleeper bench, wishing wells, custom benches for landscaped gardens,  planters, arbours, garden chair, trugs, bird tables, hedgehog house, bird box, pet runs, wobbly bridge, shed, bath caddy, halloween door skins, Halloween stash box, fold flat tables, storage solutions, novelty childrens stocks, adult dungeon stocks, toy axes, shields and swords – or take him your ideas to make for you.

This is an amazing wishing well just completed for a private customer.

The attention to detail is amazing and the bottom even slides out to gain access to the unsightly manhole it was designed to cover.

If you are a private customer looking for a unique gift, or a hotel or business looking for something different to attract customers, or a local business wanting to stock locally made things, then pop along to see Kev, in Bersham Enterprise Park.

No high pressure sales, but we are sure he will make you a nice brew and show you some of things he has made, and available for sale at great prices too.

You can find our more about Kev and some of the things he makes, on his website or Facebook page.
